Transformers revenge of the fallen

The difficult second album
I enjoyed the original Transformers movie. It was a nice popcorn piece. It avoided Fandom, and it told a simple story. A young lad growing up, has something amazing happen to him, and rises to the challenge, winning the heart of a beautiful lady
A tale as old as time. The follow up film, was going to be harder.
President Obama is name checked, which is interesting
The Geography is somewhat confused. They drive to Petra in Jordan, to Egypt and back
A lot of the action is based on Deigo Garcia. The last British territory in the Indian Ocean
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Garcia
The Union jack is all over  the film. There is a soldier wearing the sand coloured beret of the SAS.
The Autobots are in alliance with the US/UK I presume UN, as the opening scenes of the film happen in China. I am sure the PRC is going to allow the US to perform military operations in her territory
Nest rather then R.A.T.S a pity. There is a nice scene when the soliders mourn the fall of Optimus prime. They keep killing him on screen
There are two autobots who speak in Ebonics.
There is a funny scene with Grace under fire’s
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julie_White in Sam’s college. A little stoned and making mischief
This could have been a cool film. It starts of pretty well. Shia is a safe pair of hands, and Megan is lovely. There was a story I think that could be told about going through college, while you know a secret. A fantastic secret. The opening scenes in college are well done
They bring back John Turturro, too late in the film, but it’s nice to see him.
They visit the air and space museum in DC, and then run out to a airplane junkyard in Arizona.
Woo hoo! Jetfire, with a British accent, and the Constructicons
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jetfire
I had a toy jetfire
In conclusion. Less then it could have been, and too long. Its a film about talking walking robots. Add that to the everyman story of a a kid going through college. Don’t do it the other way round

Making them my bitch

The sound quality of this video is a bit bad. I didn’t want to seem like I was shouting like a mad man.

Michael Jackson reported dead

(August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

I have listened to his Music all my life. I remember watching the video for Black and white. Then talking about it in primary school.

They called him the King of Pop. They were right. I think his might have been the first album I ever listened too. As opposed to Now 42 He was the first African American Artist to play on MTV

Big Kiss!

Valya NYC wallst

This is my Valya. I call her my Valya because she looks after me, and is a very good friend to me. She is very strong and pretty. She is also a genius. She has published several papers and won national prizes in economics She looked after me when Ice dumped me. She loves Cats and Dogs, and 7 up

It was Valya who encouraged me, to write ``Sleeping under the cross’’ We are going to go to Brasil-Argentina and Chile

She is a bit sad at the moment, as her year in George Washington University has finished. I remember how sad I was when I finished my year in UNC.

I didn’t have a good friend to help me, then. My Valya will!

YOU ARE THE BEST!

With apologies to Ultravox

Round up- 21st June-2009

I was really hangover on Sunday morning. I slept in, till Midday.  Probably because I was standing up all night, and I never really relaxed but still

The first chapter of ``Sleeping under the cross’’ has been posted.I am a little dismayed now, I did not name it Sleeping under the sky. The acronym then would be SLUTS

I watched the Karate kid again:

1 Teenage boys don’t have a relationship with their mother like that

2 The Kid, is annoying. You see him being bullied and think, he deserves it

3 Pat Marita won an Oscar. As my youngest brother observed I bet Mickey Rourke is bitter about that. Its the opposite of Linda Hunt, in The year of living dangerously.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Year_of_Living_Dangerously

``Alright Ms Hunt, we’ve been fans of yours for a long time, we want you to star in our new picture. Its going to be big

``I am delighted tell me more’’

``Yer playing a bloke, a midget in  fact’’

``Oh’’

Whilst in the Karate Kid, Pat Marita, wanders about drinking Saki, and getting an idiot from Newark to fix his cars and walks off with an Oscar

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logan's_Run

I also watched Logan’s run. I am trying to remember the name of a short story I read along a similar theme.  There was a kid, who lived in a futuristic city. He was an orphan. Fear of over population had meant that no one could live past 30. Without killing another citizen and  taking their hand. The kid tries and tries but can’t do it. Then he hears a rumour of an old man outside the city. A man who is nearly a 100 years old. If you were to kill him, you would get an extra year of life. The orphan tracks down the old man, and hears him playing the piano

Farah Fawcett stars in Logan Run. I wish her well

PS- I correct my earlier statement Pat Marita was nominated he did not win an oscar

W (Dubya)

Someone at work lent this to me.
Its said all literature is about the relationship between the protagonist and their father. W is clearly the story of the second son. One is tempted to say Ishmael. That might be asking for trouble.
W is the story of a good old boy and his uptight eastie father. There is a dream sequence at the end of the film. As Mao is supposed to have commented on the French revolutions results Its a bit to early to say. Some scenes in this film are pure fantasy
Bushes strengths can be seen in a few scenes. The frat party scene where half cut, and up to waist in ice. Bush names the entire fraternity house including their nicknames. His wooing of the young Laura Wright. A young man thinking on his feet. Oh and being hugged by two passers by in Texas. While him, and Karl Rove plan and plot
In contrast Bush is depicted as unfocused. Commenting about the length of a document he receives from Vice President Cheney. ``Good only 3 pages.’’ Unable to control his sub ordinates. Rumsfeld, at one scene baits W, over not being able to enjoy Pecan pie.
As a young man, troubled and restless. Not being able to hold down a job. As an oilman. He looks for a beer, whilst working on a rig. A no no, in any industrial environment.
The film attributes the Willie Horton campaign to Bush, rather then Lee Atwater. This is wrong
Its an excuse for a lot of Bushisms. ``Fool me once… Why are our children learning. Most appear out of context. One at a cabinet meeting Where it would never have come into the public domain if he George had said it there
W, consumes Dr Pepper throughout the film
Its strange to see the recent past. Thandie Newton as Dr Rice. The words Shock and Awe. These things were on everyone lips, and then slipped away.
The pretzel scene. It was mildly amusing to read about in the papers. Seeing someone choke, isn’t funny.
``Might has well be stabbed in the back, all at once. Like the guy in Rome’’
Some interesting observations, but one feels the hatchet was deployed

The Hangover

I wanted to do something on Sunday.  I walked to the cinema. The theatre was a bit crowded. More then a few kids.
For those of you who read my posts. This often annoys me.
There is also the fact that comedies are most enjoyable as a shared experience. When you watch them on your own, its never quite as fun
Well this film, was that good. Neither mattered. I laughed out loud and people applauded when the film finished
The plot is simple. It is told in flashback 4 friends. Or rather 3 friends and the prospective brother of in law. Travel to Las Vegas for a bachelor party
Who did not drink Jagermeister in College?
The tiger in one scene,Is obviously fake. However That’s me being a nit picker.
A lot of nudity in the film. Its mostly male though :(
Heather Graham does a charming Nevada accent.
I don’t want to spoil too many of the jokes. So this review will be short. Nice to see Jeffery Tabor as always
The journey home, was a nightmare!

Blue shoes

A co worker has purchased a pair of bright blue shoes. She is breaking them, in and so far they are causing her a little discomfort.

She loves the shade of blue though

I told her off, for making decisions based on Colour

Terminator Salvation

I miss Summer. I miss Lena. My Thursday nights are not the same.

Terminator Salvation got strange reviews. The rumour that John Connor would be revealed to be a Terminator. The chatter about Nathan bale being miscast

Its odd to hear Linda Hamilton, rather then Lena as Sarah Connor

The Cameo by a computer generated Arnold. Reminds you why the original terminator was a hit.

It also reminds you why Arnold became a star. He is a big scary bastard.

Sam Worthington's, accent slips a few times. Would it have killed the writers to throw in a line mentioning he was an Army brat in Australia? A sterling performance by Sam, as Marcus.

Worthington, is a big strong lad. Which most actors are not. He has the right vibe to pay the role of Marcus. An ex con. A brawler. Happy with cars and radios.

After the Apocalypse the Americans still have perfect teeth. The vegetables in one scene are very fresh too. Now its not impossible they are growing them. Just one wonders where?

The young lad playing Kyle Reese. Anton Yeltin does a very good job. Catching some of Michael Biens mannerisms. Anton also played Chekov in Star Trek. I wonder if he is a face for the future.

There are scenes that make you jump. The people being snatched. The misdirection, used by a Terminator in one scene

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-10_Thunderbolt_II

The resistance flies Warthogs!

The KZL metaphor is used when rounding up people for Skynet.

Nathan Bale as John Connor got mixed reviews. (Update 14.45 Its Christian Bale as John Connor Opps) I think there is an element of unfairness here. John Connor, is a damn hard person to play. John Connor has been compared to a cross between Jesus Christ and George Washington. Besides Nathan Bale, who else would have had the screen presence. Unless they used a much older actor. I can’t think of one. Remember that in the first two terminator movies we never saw the character. In the series Terminator SCC we see  John as a teenager. Same as in Terminator two, with Eddie Furlong. Teenagers can be stroppy. You can cut them some slack  I don’t really remember Nick Stahl at all as John in T3.

Nice to see Michael Ironside, and the resistance HQ being a sub, is good.  PRC. US, India and RSA?

It was a good film. A solid 7.  I wonder if they finished the story too quickly. They could have had Marcus, and Reese look for Connor.

8-June -2009

The results of the EU election are in. I voted. I was one of the small minority that did. My party did not get anywhere. I wanted to make my voice heard this time.

I finished watching the Wire. The third season. Lots of ups and downs. I will post more on it later.

One of my colleagues, male wore a leopard skin shirt today. Tomorrow we have a shindig for one of my co workers.

Ashes to Ashes finished tonight.

BZZZZ BZZZZ

800px-Bumblebee_2007-04-19

I was stung today. As I was putting my washing on the clothes line.

It caught me on the foot. One of my worse childhood traumas is remembering the time. My mother trapped several wasps in my bedroom. One hid in my slipper, and stung my foot. The other caught me in the chest. I have blanked out the horrible memory of the third attack

Two rants for the price of one.

I bought pear juice rather then apple juice by mistake last week.

I tried to drink it, with my lunch today. It was vile. I could not even let it slosh down my throat. While I ate chips, and corned beef.

I could not drink it, even half diluted. It was so disgusting

I was watching Big Brother. One of the contestants told the world. That his nickname is Dark Horse

I am sceptical

http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090604165502AAJlRvo

Nicknames, are given to you. You don’t choose them. Your favourite poster is called variously James, PhD, Rosie. He knows Valya’s and Magga’s has met Bobs, and Bills. The point is all the names, are given to you. Ask any fatty, sortie. Jock or Jugs.  Self chosen nicknames are the preserve of, and I won’t mince words. Twats.

No one ever says. Darkhorse how about a pint. Aye Aye Darkhorse. Unless they are about to add an insulting four letter word.

There are only two ways you can get the name Darkhorse:

You are caught pleasuring yourself during an episode of Black Beauty

You own, a comic book store. You make, the tween’s and geeks Call you by that name.

Goodnight Vienna

I have returned home from Wien. Tomorrow I go back to work. I think the place grew on me. Or I really don’t want to go back to work

Wienroof

This is me, up on the roof, of the tram station by my hotel. To be honest I had terrible vertigo. I am terrified of slipping down steps. Heights themselves don’t scare me

I woke up this morning, and watched CNN. Full of bad news about the tragic recent loss of flight Flight AF 447

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8080290.stm

I was perhaps a little more nervous flying today.

I spent the day lounging around Wien. Last night I had steak, and a cocktail. I had a steak at the resturant. I had been frequenting. I gave them a 100 euro note. Which did not please the, staff. A pity. They were nice. They were more then nice. They were hot

rurriwienblock

Its looks as if I am asleep or something very pleasant is happening to me. I sat on the yellow blocks of the museum quarter and wrote postcards. Yesterday I saw a man, with a bow and arrow. As I was coming up the Marahildstrasse. Its a strange place  Wien

I took the train to the airport. I flew home safely. One fun fact, is that they scan your belongs, just before you get into the gate. After duty free. I did set of the machine.

I didn’t want my holiday to end. I went to the pub, and I had a beer.

I will go to bed soon. Perhaps I will come back to Wien one day. I didn’t like everything about it. Sex trade is very obvious. There were lots of beggars. It could be untidy.

Then there was this

Rurrhallstadt

Its a Hallsdat axe. I had forgotten, Austria was the centre of the Hallsdat Celtic Culture. (SHAME ON ME) Its a bronze axe head. Isn’t it beautiful. It speaks to me. I want to hold it. I want to use it. Its a piece of metal, but I feel its alive and speaking to me
