Lost
As I have said before, where other people mark their life with music. I do the same with TV shows. NYPD blue, Star trek DS9, and Eurotrash, all represent periods of my life
Lost is the first show, of my adulthood. I was working, I had a gf, In part I watched the show because I had been to Hawaii. I had taken a small loan out to pay for that trip
The program is filmed on the Island of Hawaii, I have been there, though the series is set on the big Island. Bamboo fields, palm beaches, hills and jungle, and rain. Its the first show for me, where the landscape played a part.
Its painfully post modern. The baddies are referred to as the others. There are no opening titles, or theme tune.
I have been a fan of JJ Abrams work. From Alias onwards, I still have to re watch the new Star Trek movie on blue ray. Lost, shares his love of shifting alliances. ( Jack and Sawyer and Locke playing each other off against the other. Father and Daughter relationships, Kate and her stepdad, could have been Sydney Bristow, gone wrong) Oh and his ear for accents, indeed we have with Sun and Jin, stories which were not acted in English We went to the Outback, several times, to Africa. To the dreaming spires of Oxford, below the Mason Dixon, the battlefields of Iraq.
It featured several Alias Alum too... I'd seen the pilot before, and the bald guy
The eye candy was fantastic. 20 something MILF Aussie Claire…..
Then there is the delectable Kate, and Sun.

One of the last truly erotic scenes on TV, I have seen. Was Sun unbuttoning her blouse. The earlier series has poor little rich girl Shannen, sunbathing as the plane was still alight
The story is simple. Several people crash land on Island. The pilot, which at the time, was the most expensive in history, shows the crash. One unlucky passenger is sucked into an engine. Which was a fate I was terrified that would befall me, when I worked at the Airport, the survivors try and stay alive, sane and find there way home
There were some Wow moments…
The moment, when we realised John Locke was in a wheel chair. ``You can’t tell me what to do’’ Something that was mirrored at the end of the series.
I will miss Sawyer nicknaming people. Bigfoot, and Jabba for Hurley Come to mind…
Did I say I will miss lusting over Kate and Claire....On and Sun
Sayid mourning Shannen. `` We never should have met, we never should have spoken, well we did meet and we did speak''
The record is skipping and repeating Yes I will miss the show, I mourn the shows passing. Watching the earlier episodes they all look so young. Jack even has a crew cut .
Along with the lead’s hairstyle things changed. The Network I watched Lost on stopped showing it, and I had to buy the later series on DVD. I hold both American and European DVD’'s.
The writers strike hit the series.
( The Others vanished into the background, remember they abducted children the plot of season 4 and 5, seems to have been forgotten. ) The show always provided a good solid 45 minutes of entertainment. See the last season episode where we see Ricard’s life in flashback. Or the Nikki and Pablo story line I enjoyed that episode possibly the only person who ever did. But what do I know I was impressed by Voyagers Threshold

Like the X files, the show, became devoured by its own mythology, remember the Rimbaldi arc on Alias and there are in my mind two parts to the series. After season 4, rescue and survival of the characters from the Island does not seem to be a problem. In comparison to the earliest series, where food and water where an issue. Where was everyone shaving and showering?
Well, guess we finally got off the Island , and I can look back…I look back with regret, yes with Joy but with regret. I am sad, its not going to be there anymore. But maybe thats my real age, sooner or later I am going to start going to funerals. I am not that much older than Jack
