Memories of other days

My day was not one I would care to remember. So here are some link's to better days http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirador_de_la_Flor My brother and I visited this statue in 2007. When we visited Corpus Christi. Today is the anniversary of Selina's untimely death. My brother and I learned about her career and life http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Island_(1980_film) We were talking about this film, on one my internet groups. I saw it one night. I was up channel surfing looking for boobs. The premise is rather strange Michael Caine, is a journalist and his family are abducted by modern day pirates. Direct descendent's of Blackbeard and the like. They speak, in a 17th century Cant. ``Not since time of second Charles''  Dudley stutton, who my sister has a particular animus against, stars as one of the pirates.  10 years ago, I would have been working at the Insurance company. Doing data entry. My first full time job.  I wonder what would have happened...
My phone is back!

Better luck next year lads

More German notes

Germany is not plastic friendly. There are not ATM’s everywhere.  I was in the book shop which was full of Fortuna Dusseldorf merchandise I am sure there was pickled cauliflower for breakfast I smell of cigarette smoke. You may still smoke in bars here. The smell, lingers I am such a hypocrite for bringing it up. Yes I know what I was doing between 1997 and 2007 There is something in my brothers wallet, which keeps setting off alarms in stores There was a very cute girl, in the bookshop, working on the till. She seemed to be there, simply to bag There is a lot of construction, Dusseldorf passes the Crane test There were two stores, selling hi grade models. Model battleships, and remote controlled aircraft and helicopters The North and South trains, on one of the underground lines run above and below each other.  I wonder if this is different from the Tube. Though I remember it may have been similar in Washington I have been eating salami all day

Dusseldorf

Dusseldorf notes If you ask for tea, they give you chocolate biscuits. Rather a packet of cheese snacks on the British Airways flight The ticket Machines at the airport, do not accept notes larger than 10 euro's I had printed out maps to the wrong hotel. I only noticed this on the train My hotel is Russian run, and caters for visitors from there There is a deserted hooters here. How did I miss it in 2009? In O Rielly's if you ask for an Alt they give you a pint of Alt bier You can still smoke in German pubs A northerner was speaking loudly about Bravestar the TV series, in Tir na nog. ``Ears of the wolf'' There is construction work everywhere. They give you a little tub of snacks, with your drinks, pretzels, and cheese snacks Spoke to a pretty Canadian waitress in an Irish bar, in Germany=globalisation Made it to breakfast just in time I had a frankfurter, and scrambled eggs Oh, and pickles, and orange juice Germans are very helpful. They will switch to ...

A word from Japan

17.30 This story may be 3rd of 4th hand. I think none of can be unaware of events, in Japan of late http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Sendai_earthquake ``They intend to do what is called a "destructive" shutdown on three of the other reactors; reactor vessel 3 is going to blow before they can get equipment in place.  This destructive shutdown is meant to remove fuel rods and break them up into subcritical masses, rather than try to preserve them as potential fuel elements for later use, or try to preserve the reactor for later repair.  They are turning away volunteers for the job if the volunteers are under the age of 50, or have small children as dependents, because of the near certainty that any volunteers are going to become cancer statistics doing the work.  My source says that the number of senior engineers who've asked to be considered where he works is mind-blowing.’’

Для моих читателей России

Image
(и Украины!) I cam across a book of Russian posters, at work. As I have many friends beyond the Neiman, I thought they might be interested. I was fascinated to see, advertisements from Tsarist days. Another world. A lost world. A beer advert. ( I am hungover today as it happens) Looks like the flash http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_(comics) http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A4%D0%BB%D1%8D%D1%88_(DC_Comics) and finally an add for smokes I wonder who that is in the advert? Alexander Nemeski? No wonder he is dead, smoking is bad for you

No strings

The opening scene is quite good. A really uncomfortable teenage moment. With the young actors playing the two leads  sharing a moment. She is cynical, and defensive as smart teenage girls are. He is ridden with hormones and clumsy, and cannot cope with his emotions inspired by his parents divorce, as teenage boys are Boys II Men, ``I want to sex you up'' Its ages since I heard that song. That was a nice period touch. Oh, and there are period jokes in this film, this may be a first in mainstream Hollywood. So hurrah. The first sex scene, is well done. Its not graphic, but it is real.Yes, no lower, errm, yes… okay, wait yes yes Oh, its Kevin Kline. You may remember me, from a fish called Wanda. Kevin Kline, who might have been the next Olivier. Here he plays Aston's Dad. Kevin character is supposed to have been a TV star in the 1980's/1970s. Its unclear. If Ashton works, on an erstaz  Glee or High School Musical Would the younger cast and crew recognize Kline? ...
