No strings
The opening scene is quite good. A really uncomfortable teenage moment. With the young actors playing the two leads sharing a moment. She is cynical, and defensive as smart teenage girls are. He is ridden with hormones and clumsy, and cannot cope with his emotions inspired by his parents divorce, as teenage boys are
Boys II Men, ``I want to sex you up'' Its ages since I heard that song. That was a nice period touch.
Oh, and there are period jokes in this film, this may be a first in mainstream Hollywood. So hurrah.
The first sex scene, is well done. Its not graphic, but it is real.Yes, no lower, errm, yes… okay, wait yes yes
Oh, its Kevin Kline. You may remember me, from a fish called Wanda. Kevin Kline, who might have been the next Olivier. Here he plays Aston's Dad. Kevin character is supposed to have been a TV star in the 1980's/1970s. Its unclear. If Ashton works, on an erstaz Glee or High School Musical Would the younger cast and crew recognize Kline?
Kline asks his son, to hit him...
Daddy issues, are the main subplot in this film. Which is interesting as the conceit which the film is based on is can you have no strings sex. Natalie Portman also flirts with an older Doctor.
When Aston, gets drunk, to get over Kevin Kline sleeping with his ex girlfriend, it seems quite light outside. As if its early morning. It could be the Californian location, but it seemed to be a continuity error to me.
Ms Portman, wears the same Bra and knickers, in two places the film. Now in this real life, this is fine. I wonder again, if this was a continuity, thing. Its also a good bra, as character wears a similar bra later on
Ashtons, friends, are black, and a kind of camp guy. Natalie’s friends are I assume, Tamil, and a gay guy. Its the whole demographic, but not too much
Yes I have to stop reading TVtropes.org
When Ashton confronts, his rival. A doctor at Natalie portman hospital. The MD, tell the runner, that he is a ``Marylin'' as opposed to a `Jackie''.
After Black Swan I think I may love Natalie Portman. Than again, I even watched V for Vendetta. Her character here is marvel, Beautiful, intelligent, and witty. I reality she may simply be too much for Aston's character.
In conclusion was pleasantly suprised. It’s a simple premise that the film is centered upon ``Can you have no strings sex?'' The two leads, run with it. With quite an interesting subversion of the gender roles. Its Ashton who shows flesh, and is subjected to the other gender's gaze. Ashton, is defended by Natalie, when he
