Graffiti on the wall for the FAI
So there is a storm in a tae cup.
The Irish Women's national soccer team have qualified for the World Cup. After winning their last match against Scotland. The players were singing and dancing in a huddle
The ladies were broadcast on camera as they sang the Wolfe tones 1987 hit- Celtic Symphony.
This song is enjoyed by Irish sports fans -including Leinster Rugby who gave a rendition in 2019 whilst flying back from France.
The problem is :

The Jungle- the old terrace- where the youngest boldest fan would gather
The Lions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisbon_Lions

Paradise : An old story that moving from the graveyard to Paradise-

This refers to the grand old clubs history. Now I wonder how much the reference to the jungle and the lions resonate with a Dubliner but apparently they do
I want to say It is our song. I mean the diaspora. We who cannot vote and are there to be lectured against
I find it a little hypocritical for SKY who are happy to talk about the atmosphere at Old Firm games to be so shocked and judgmental. What do they mean exactly?

This did not go down well.
Lets be honest. Any sensible press or media officer would drum into her players heads to keep some distance from Celtic FC and the Irish team. UEFA used to jump on this. The fact that UEFA gave BLM a pass and are having to back track The death of Elizabeth Windsor saw UEFA deny permission for clubs to sing their national anthem.
The laws are heavy handed but they are there for the best. Beyond that sometimes rude older men are correct. Sometimes young ladies err.
It will be forgotten like the bombing of Celtic supporters favourite pubs
