A time traveller?
A terminator?

http://thecelebritycafe.com/feature/time-traveler-caught-film-10-28-2010

I remember watching a BBC documentary about a couple with an old BBC mirco. They started getting messages from someone in the 16th century. He told them, he had been given a computer by, someone from the future.

These titles caught my eyes

I was scanning tickets, and these titles caught my eye

How Dwarfs experience the World around them

I have a friend who would be fascinated by this

(This was taken out, by a reader called Yu, which reminded me of my days of Stargate fandom

http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1b/Yu_aboard_a_Goa'uld_space_station.jpg&imgrefurl=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Yu_aboard_a_Goa'uld_space_station.jpg&h=40

That’s Yu, he is a Gou’ald  Grrr. Oh if you scan a ticket twice it kills them, like in Stargate

``The Art of making fireworks’’

Published in 1820. For the layman or the businessman is not specified. If it is a how to manual

``Cosmetics in Shakespearan and Renaissance drama’’

I had images of women applying blusher. In long white robes

``Send it by semaphore’’

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Send-Semaphore-Howard-Mallinson/dp/1861267347

Great title. This web kept Napoleon’s empire intact

``Of Sugar and snow’’

http://www.ucpress.edu/book.php?isbn=9780520265912

The history of Ice cream. I did not know this till I just ran it through google The title just intrigued me

I then went on to cut my finger

The Town

Ben Affleck, continues his career as a director. Its not as good, as`` Gone baby gone'', It still works well enough

John Hamn, picks up a cheque, and tells the world his range is wider than Don Draper. Don’t get me wrong I like John Hamn, and I liked Gone baby Gone. However this is an obvious piece of cash in casting.
Its really odd to hear John Hamn swear, and threaten. As Don does not do that

In fact I think, it happens, in the Movie. Don tells his FBI partner to close the Bridge across the James. His partner is confused for a moment. Presume he thought What's got into Don?

Don's seems to be both an evidence collector and part of the the FBI tactical team. In real life most FBI agents never fire a shot

Affleck character mentions the CSI effect. CSI gives a false impression of the quality of evidence recovered from crime scenes. In fact John Hamn subverts its by asking for something that looks like a print

I hope the divine Miss Hall forgives me for confusing her with Michelle Monaghan

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0356017/. I last saw her in Vicki/Cristina

The plot involves series of heist set in Boston. The protangonist. Ben Affleck has one last job. He leads a gang which  robs armoured cars and banks.  There is a subtext about a working class area changing from what was solidly blue collar, now caught between the new middle, and the new lower. ( Ben's Single mother on off romantic interest is in a fight with a Somali. She is a junkie addicted to Oxy. -He exchanges her for a bank manager who lives in apartment, and gives it up to teach)One could argue like the Soprano's the film is about frustrated upward mobility. The Town, brings you back down. Affleck's character was an NHL draftee, but always kept fighting at camp His best friend, saved his life by shooting someone who objected to Affleck first, and kept his mouth shut and did his time. The techie of the gang, is caught because his sick days, are a matter of public record. Rather than a bribe and a promise to a foreman.

Pete Postlewaite does an Irish accent.  North of the Drumlins by the sound of it He also runs a florist shop as a front. His character is basically evil incarnate. He is another reminder of the change in the area. His culture supplied the symbols that affleck and his crew grew up with. The shamrocks and the fighting Irish Tattoo's

Its a lot of the same cast from gone baby gone.. I guess central casting has Boston Types. However its a pretty good support team

Despite the films working class credentials they spend a lot of time tracing the tourist trails of Boston. The gang  rob Fenway park. We see a lot of Boston landmarks , the Market, the docks.

Jack Bristow plays the Bank Manager. He gets hit in the face with an assault rifle for his trouble. There is a security Guard who thought he was GI Joe

There is a young lad in Boston, who will be forever traumatised, when he see's the Gang, armed to the teeth, dressed as Nuns.

The Other Guys

This takes place in a particular moment, in history
Unlike say Stepbrothers. This film is set clearly after the 2008 crash. The baddie is an insider dealer. Also Will Ferrell's character is working on an I-phone application.
So this film is firmly set in time....

Titus Pullo plays an ex Aussie SAS trooper.. That is ex SAS not ex Australian
Steve Coogan has a moment, of pure Partridge, God, you forget how young Steve C actually is, your used to seeing him in his mid 50's in the late 1990's  when his hair is felt, and he exclaims, hot VO5 oil
Kylie gets a name check, as an Aussie meme
The film is a  bit of a parson’s egg. Its good in parts. However there are I think too many skits. Part of Ferrells back story are overused.
The other guys'' are the supporting cast, to two NYPD maverick detectives played by the Rock ( Dwayne Johnson, and Samuel, Jackson).  They are the wise cracking, Kim Kardashian dating pair. Beloved of the city. ( Did anyone else think of Demolition Man, when they are asked about wrecking the city to enforce a pot bust)
When the two hot shots are killed off, the other guys try to take their moment. They are a missed matched pair. Ferrell is an NYPD accountant, and Walberg is playing a high flying cop, who made one mistake
Can someone say. Michael Keaton and comeback? Keaton is playing their Captain
I knew Bed Bath and beyond from Glee!
I am not sure Mark Walberg, was correctly cast here. I have not seen the Departed, one day I need to clear my schedule and watch it. I have read since that this is a riff on his role, in that movie.
I have a feeling it was supposed to Willis, rather than Walberg but his age, and ``Cop out’’ just got in the way
Good spoof, on Irish songs/Irish rebel songs. ``Five British soldiers had her, but it was consensual''.
The two detectives go drinking in an Irish bar. (Walberg asks Ferrell if he realizes all those songs are depressing)
TLC are also named checked. It is the 1990’s all over again.
The other guys was good in part. It’s not as good as Anchorman, or Stepbrothers, but better than a lot of stuff out there. It is perhaps over long and uses too many set pieces

( 2021 It is though entirely forgettable)

I used to love her

I have changed some of these names. It should be obvious when and where.

Barbara, the Italian, girl I sat next for two weeks, in Scottish History, and mourned for months

Lisa Mac. No one knew. As far as I knew, at the time, which means, they were probably laughing at me, in Mombassa and on the moon. I had a crush on her

Ditto Rosa, a Spanish girl, in my HS. I lost that one pretty quickly, her best friend was annoying.

By annoying I mean starting fights, and bring people into school, to stab another person

A university Tutor, who basically, avoided me I think. After it became to obvious. She wore a leather jacket.

Anyanka, at work. Who I was once convinced, was sitting sharon stone style across from me. Maybe she was.

A girl on a stargate list. As she was American, and the only girl

We will divert more rivers

On one my lists there was a discussion about how one should go equipped if I was a member of a private security concern in the buffyverse

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffyverse

After a discussion about Guns, and such,

I posted my thoughts

img028

1) Sunnydale terrorised by Vamps, and other demons. People flee. Property prices collapse. Tax revenues decline

2) Buy title for Sunnydale. From City hall.

3) Dam river upstream of sunnydale, creating employment.

4) Bless river water, and make it holy water. You could have a multiple faith celebration. You make this a public event.

You than blow the dam! BANG

5. Holy water/river flushes sunnydale away. Killing all the bad things

6. New river is created, with possibilities of recreation. Boating fishing, swiming and such

Victory through massive civil engineering. When faced with the Hellmouth’s in Cleveland and LA. You repeat the process

A story about Bill and Tony

There is a person, I work with called. Bill. He is awfully lazy. He used to vanish until lunch, and would emerge having finished one assignment. Sometimes, he would not have completed the task, and would return to it after his sandwiches.

We used to work with a man called Tony. We will call him Tony Z. Tony was about as lazy as Bill.
If not worse. Tony would find places to sleep amongst the shelves, and the filing cabinets, only to emerge when a passer by disturbed his slumber. Tony has since retired. he however still has a circle of friends at the work place. Bygones are Bygones

However Tony was, a charming gent. While Bill has been warned about sexual harassment.

Anyway, Yesterday Bill, is talking about Tony, who he reported as dead. Tony Z, was dead!

This caused a stir. As Tony Z, despite his age, was a popular person. There were several attempts to reach Tony Z, on his mobile and home phone. These came to no avail.

Finally, a colleague went round at lunch  to Tony's house to check up on him.  Tony's brother, was outside, smoking dressed, in funeral black. My co worker, offered his condolences and his hand.
 Putting two and two together

Tony's brother indignant. Asked, what the ``fox'' was going on.

He called upstairs, to his brother.

Tony Z descended, the staircase, to confirm that rumor's of his death had been greatly exaggerated, and he was alive and well.

They had been at the funeral of a neighbour. So naturally phones were ignored. The clock was stopped, and the dogs silenced with juicy bones

Tony was not amused, at events  My co worker, who is actually quite high up here, called into work.
To ask what was going on? It was not as if Bill and Tony were friends. Why would Bill know, what happened to Tony. Bill was summoned to the phone

Bill insisted that he had heard nothing but his co workers talk about Tony death all morning

This was indeed true

The Tony who had passed away was none other than:

``Tony Curtis''

Oh dear!

I was amused to learn of this piece of law. Next time, I see a co worker playing internet poker
