The New Rome

I want to call this the 4th Rome.

Okay

So I was looking at a photo of my friend in a nice old house in Argentina. My friend is cos-player, but because I am middle aged my eye was drawn to the soft furnishing's. The decor and the building was from the turn of the 20th century.

I was reminded of  Pinky Blinders, and Boardwalk Empire. Oh I know they are a generation later.
But I was suddenly struck by the thought. That's a nice sandbox to play in....

So Argentina was in the 1900's One of the wealthiest countries in the world. B.A had it's own Harrods  Argentina was the unofficial fifth dominion after NZ, Australia, Canada and S.A. British capital had built railways  across the Pampas and steam ships with refrigerated compartments brought Beef and lamb back to England. There was something like 3 million pounds invested in the wheat fields of Argentina

So there was a British diaspora in Argentina, both above and below the stairs. More on this later

So imagine Colin Firth, he is actually too old for this role, but never mind. Colin Firth talking to a butler. It's cricket season and he wants to get measured for some new whites- Uniform. Then he checks his bat. It will need stringing? Dunno I was not allowed to play Cricket. So Mr Firth goes to Harrods, he is there. Chit chat with a British flunkie, and we see the staff in prim black uniforms. The Camera should not fixate on their faces. Uniforms and such.   Mr Firth is happy What ho! Jeeves a New bat!  Perhaps Mr Firth catches the eye of a young lady , exotic looking French accent.
Think Eva Green  Well hello would you like tea and scones ! Then as Mr Firth is being ushered out the door, someone puts  bullet in Mr Firth's head. Blood everywhere. Instead of a British Bobby we see an Argentine Gendarme, firing into the crowd..

A guy drops a pistol in the street... You see the man  nod at a motor car and ...

So you have the British Toffs, doing deals, snubbing each other, destroying each other socially- producing photos of their rivals below stair bastards. Think Dowton Abbey with a warmer climate

Throw in a few gilded age Yanks. Commodore Vanderbilt types. New Money wanting a piece of the action. Shipping. Also the Panama canal is not going to be there just yet. So..
You could even have a bitter Confederate escapee throwing shade...

So, alongside the toffs raising eyebrows at people who passed the port from the right. You can have a Sean Bean type, Railway Engineer, actually managing the trains. Or working in the mines. Sabotage, accidents, and corruption and crime. Also Sean Bean will introduce football and rugby clubs Football violence. Athletes. We start hearing about the beginning of modern popular culture. Everton, Arsenal FC
Lilly Langtry playing... A  concert at the B.A cricket club etc

Sean Bean Railway/Mines gives you Western Stories. With Gaucho's rather than cowboys. Head them off at the pass. Few bands of Indio's bandits.

Then you have the slums /ports

1 Massive white slave/sex trade. Girls coming form Eastern Europe. Often Jews. The Zionists will turn up
2. LCN organised crime. Actually as far as I can tell the LCN did not do so well in Argentina. Locals or the Jewish gangs can run them off.
2. Unions, strikes.

Basically the God Father, meets Once upon a time in America, meets Reds. With fighting at football matches.

The Rich locals

Catholic, they tolerated the Brits somewhat. The Yanks annoy them. Also the local clergy tend to be Spanish or Irish imports. There are also Rich Euros. French and such. Social equals of the Brits. Tensions start rising with the Germans as the 20th century walks towards the precipice

The Duggan's. (These are a real family) IRB paymasters. Guess who they have a real problem with....

Then we have Argentine politics. Coup's etc. Arms deals. War scare with Chile etc

So this is a sandbox, where we can have Mad Men style board room... Empire club backstabbing meeting literal backstabbing in a wine sink... While someone robs the corpse and visits a brothel
The soiled dove sends part of her money to the Zionists. Who are meeting with the Kaiser's agents

All in a different setting
