Rear Window

 

I suppose this is a bravura performance by James Stewart because I ended up loathing him

Right so James Stewart breaks his leg and is left alone in his apartment to convalesce He is visited daily by an insurance nurse, and his love interest Grace Kelly. To pass the time, he spies on the neighbors. Including Miss Torso- a dancing beauty who doesn't wear much-There is a heat wave on by the way. Though Stewart seems to have many different pairs of pajmas. Others numbering amongst the cast of neighbors are  a musician and a married couple- who sleep on a mattress outside on their balcony 

He thinks he sees a murder

So why did I end up hating Stewart - because he is ranting to Grace Kelly about being a war correspondent- photo journalist He talks about eating rice with weird food, and it raining all the time. I thought of Peru. I thought yeah its miserable there often and you are complaining while Grace Kelly whose hair literally shines like gold in old pictures- the metaphor is true for her. While she is serving you lobster

Then he doesn't shout to warn her while she is investigating the killers apartment
