I have spent a long weekend in Germany

On my last night, I decided to go and see. Koln FC play Kasierlaten.

I bought a Koln scarf

The match started at 815.PM I believed that the game, would be held in the Koln Arena. It was not. I realised my mistake. When I saw scarf and jersey clad Germans. Get on the tram, at the platform opposite.

I was treated to some singing, by a good natured crowd. More women then I expected. I suspect, the game is an excuse to drink. Noting the cheeky bottles of Jagermiester and larger bottles of Beck.

We were packed into the E trams. It took about half an hour to get to the Stadium.
I am not sure if the tram was free. No one seemed to be paying, so...

Once I arrived at the ground. I walked across the grass, to the stadium. My feet froze. I have a pair of Chelsea boots, that I wear on holiday. They cause me agony. So why do I wear tehm. Firstly so I don't slip. Secondly so, I am not wearing trainers-sneakers-runners. Thus can gain entry into more discerning establishment.

Anyway, I walked across frost laden grass. I then, muddled arround. Until I asked a nice lady.``Where can I buy tickets''German's are very kind, to forlorn Anglophones.

It cost me 35 Euro. I avoided the attention of a couple of scalpers. I then entered the ground. My ticket was scanned as I passed through the turnstiles

Well, My seat was on the 17th floor. I then decided upon a beer, for some protection against the cold. Turns out you have to buy a prepaid card, which you add, money too. Not unlike Londons oystercards. Another kind German explained this to me

Danke schon !

Koln FC preceded the game by playing a song to the tune of ``We are Sailing''
I was so high up. You acutally come to your seat from above. Oh and you walk past the ground's Bistro. I see the Bundesliga has its prawn sandwiches set.

Koln played quite well. Coming back after going a goal down. They played the tune, of the A-Team during Half time. It was hard, to tell the home fans, and the away support apart. Both teams, play in red and white. For those of you, who have watched the video. Koln, is playing in red. Kasierlaten plays in Black.

When Koln scored they sprinkled the ground. With beer mats, like snow was falling. It was a nice touch. They also, kept record of goal attempts and corners. Which made watching the scoreboards confusing

Coming home, were crowded into the E train again. Like the Tokyo rocket train. I got off, at the wrong stop. I had to double back. I returned to my hotel, cold, and content, but oh my aching feet
