You Never Know, Tom Selleck

 This is Tom Selleck's 2023 biography

I enjoyed it- it is a quite straightforward descrption of Tom's role and life behind the Camera. It doesn't really talk much about Tom's post Magnum career- Richard on Friends, Quigley, or Jesse Stone. We don't learn a lot about Runaway or Her Alibi 

There is also a description of right wing circles in Hollywood, in the 1980s/90s. Tom knew Bob Hope, The Regans, he apologies for an act of lesse majesty by putting his arm about Mrs Regan's waist  Frank Sinatra, and Clint Eastward. 

As well an interesting description of Tom's service in the national guard-  and his ups and downs during his military service. He is sent to  campus riots, misses out on becoming and officer due to his slighty too long hair,  and his life in the Fox Studio system. Where he works with Farah Fawcett and Mae West

So some observations

Gerald McRaney who I am currently watching in Simon and Simon was a first choice for T.C- Who is Magnum's friend and pilot

This would have had a large knock on pop culture. No Theodore Calvin -no B.A. 

There was quite a length of time between Don't eat the Snow in Hawaii and China Doll

Tom did not like China Doll - which is one of my favourite episodes. Also he did not like the Christmas episode-thank heaven for little girls. Broadcasting new shows on Christmas eve was seen as folly by American networks

Selleck was a producer for the seventh of Magnum P.I series which is a noticeable return to quality He enjoyed the praise that Death and Taxes recieved

Selleck did not enjoy Echoes of the Mind, Sharon Stone evil twin episode. This is not one of my favourites-despite Sharon being stunning, and giving a great performance. He also describes the method by which the shower scenes were produced. Ms Stone wore a flesh coloured bra and panties and the glass in the shower was translucent

No word of Tom's swimming scene with Shelley 

There is not a lot of talk about T.C, Rodger E Mosely wrote for the series

Airwolf is partially the reason why Magnum season 6 is so bad. Donald B, wrote the best of the earlier stories- Memories are forever- Did you see the sunrise.

Magnum was syndicated at a price of 3.5 million an episode, a price it held for years

Frank Sinatra rang up a $100 000 worth of expenses in Hawaii, An aging Frank also was nervous on set- his lines were pasted to his newspaper. I do not like the episode Laura- the tone is quite dark. I do wish Frank had returned in season 8

Selleck was in some danger of attacks from Hammerheads while filming Home from the Sea- the show that won the enemy

Serial rapist Bill Cosby made digs at Magnum 

Tom enjoyed the filming of the 6yh season episodes in London. I am glad he did but I feel they are weak

Finally Tom met his wife, via Brian Blessed- I am sad to say Blessed was never to perform on Magnum P.,I
