Yes this is very 1990s. There is a mention of Dr Kervorkian. We see Shannen Doherty, on screen. Jurassic park is still the biggest box office bonazana. Indeed OJ will murder his wife before this film hits blockbuster. Oh and you know what is really 1990s- 70s nostalgia. We see OJ wearing an Afro.

Phil Donnahue looking like Leslie Nielsen is a plot point. As I said 1990s.
So it felt more dated than the orginal Naked Gun movie. In fact having the denouement- at the Oscars adds to this. The Oscars used to be exciting. I don't know if I am older or crankier but, I remember people used to stay up late for the Oscars
I was surprised by the Cameo's Olvia Dukakis, and James Earl Jones. Oh and Pia Zadora-who according to legend played Anne Frank on Broadway, and was so bad. That someone in the audience shouted ``She's in the attic''
Anna Nicole Smith. I was interested in getting a sense of her. I remember an old gf, used to compare herself to her. She looks buxom and pretty, but the film doesn't do much with her
Marc Alamio- Gul Dukat plays a truck stop rapist. Who tries to force himself on Priscella Presley Priscella gets a sub plot based on wanting a baby-with Thelma and Louise overtones. It is as I said very very 1990s. Cheers was doing a similar storyline in 1992. Ally McBeal will do more of the same.
That said because of the ages of Nielsen and Presley it feels more modern- everyone is middle aged now
