Drill Bit Taylor

Two boys, firm friends. Start their first day, at High school. A fat kid, and a skinny beanpole. The more rotund protagonist. Reminds one of Chuck from the Goonies. Or even the Italian Americans from the Sopranos.

As they wait for the bus. They realise with horror. That they are wearing the same shirt

Drill Bit Taylor, lives a paralell life. A homeless veteran. He showers on the beach. Suprising a rollerblader. He hustles for change.

The fight scene between the boys, and the bully. Is a bit more violent, then normal. I think, this works. Though it suprised my sister. She had a point. The film is a curious mix. Its a coming of age story, and a screwball comedy. Drill Bit is after all Homeless. The Bully, is prepared to hurt. Not noogies, not pantsing, The bully wants to maim and if enraged enough kill. The kids. Boys years younger then him

This may have been the films problem. I thought the film was fine. The dialogue between the juvenile leads, was fun. T-Dog, telling his friend. He had to change his shirt.  As T dog, could not get home, in time. As due to his girth, runs the mile, in 21 minutes.

It also got the sense  childhood -young adulthood. Being another world. The Adults aside from Drill bit. Are of no help to out protangists. The headmaster, is blind to the bully. The step father of the skinny kid admits to have been a bully.

Before Drill Bit, the only time an adult, assists the boys. Is when an angry elderly home owner. Threatens to get his gun. To clear the boys out of his garage. The boys run, but the bullies are scared off too

The films resolution. Depends on the plot point, of the bully being an emanicpated minor. Someone outside the ....protection’’ of schools or parents

There is a cape fear reference. When the skinny boys mother, invites the bully to his home

Drill Bit, living on charm, and inertia. He flirts with the same drivers every day. Including the Bullies friends Mom.  Owen wilson, was made up to look like his nose had been broken.

One day, he answers a advert for a bodyguard.

They used the same piece of stock footage, to denote each school day. The same girl, running up the stairs.

T Dog, rapping was fun. The boys, staring at Eric pridz ....push me ’’ while, there new friend preferred to dance. Was a subtle hint....

Oh, and  a nod to the world we live in. There is a mention, of the posting of fights on Youtube. They take pictures of bkini clad lovelies with their mobiles
