A pre season friendly at Loftus Road. Fiorentina, who had the indignity of having their name spelled in correctly on the board, conceded, but went on to claw back two goals. 

During half time, parents and their children were invited to try their luck at a penalty

I missed the winning goal. My bladder betrayed me- and I am kicking myself ! QPR went ahead thanks to the formidable Jimmy Dunne and held out untill the 93 minute. The Birmingham city fans rejoiced and relished the equaliser. No doubt the sweeter for the visitors as the Loftus Road boo boys had been in full voice. Berating the City of Birmingham, and singing ``Feed the Brummies''. QPR v WBA

Well 3-1 I enjoyed this one. I noticed that it started raining as soon as I reached the ground. This seemed a bit of a bad tempered game there was a lot of pushing and shoving. I noted that Chair came off early, and as I left QPR took the lead at half time- and feeling free. I went for a pint. I ended up in a queue which took more than 15 minutes for me to reach the server. The serving staff seemed under manned, and did not say pour out 10 pints to be ready to serve. Indeed people were still queing for food and drink, when the stewards were told the concession stand had to close QPR then scored again, and almost scored a screamer. Then WBA struck back with a goal that fumbled into the net. I have noticed the QPR goal keeper has developed a fear of a long kick up the field We scored again and put the match beyond doubt.

One small controversy an Oxford Utd  FC staff member  allegedly catching a  stray ball in the dying seconds of the game- holding it for a few seconds 

 

 

QPR Beat Brentford 3-1 in the Premier League Cup

The first trophy I have ever seen lifted at Loftus Road

Last night I went to a football match at my local stadium. The team I favour is called Queens Park Rangers. They play in blue and white horizontal stripes.  There stadium is Loftus Road stadium in Shepherds Bush . It is actually just behind the BBC studios and offices at Television centre. So even though you may not have heard of the team you perhaps have seen the stadium being used by the BBC to film a drama or such. Or if you know the video to Bittersweet symphony by the verve, it is a little up the road from there  . The football season is drawing to a close.  So the two teams I watched were under 21 teams. They were my team Queens Park Rangers and Brentford FC. Brentford are probably more famous now as they play in the Premier League- The top competition of English football along with Chelsea and Manchester Utd . When I was a lad, the opposite was true QPR were in the top group and Brentford below them

. This was a cup final match- the under 21 teams in London have their separate competitions - I believe it is the case that only 10 percent of young men playing professional football at 21 are doing so at 25 years old.  As Queens Park Rangers and Brentford are local rivals the grounds are less than 3 miles apart. There was a lot of interest in this game.  3 quarters of the stadium had been filled by fans from both teams.  There were many banners and flags. One celebrating Kiyan Prince a former youth player for QPR who was murdered  a few years ago.  It was an exciting match but not a skillful one. There was a lot of chanting - The  QPR fans chant at the Brentford fans You're just a bus stop in Houslow. Hounslow is the name of the borough Brentford play in 

 My team ended up winning 3 goals to Brentford's one. 

 Some young fans invaded the pitch. We then had a pyrotechnical display as QPR lifted a trophy. To think I should live to see such a day

Two footballers have been arrested on suspicion of voyeurism after police descended on Queen's Park Rangers' training ground.

Officers from the Met made the arrests at QPR's Hounslow headquarters on Thursday, with the two players thought to be members of the club’s academy.

According to reports, both footballers are men believed to be aged in their late teens.

It's thought the arrests follow an incident at a nightclub in Kingston, south London, earlier this month.

The suspects remain in custody amid the ongoing investigation, the Met confirmed on Friday.

I don't think I will have to fight for tickets this season. The ground was noticeably quieter last night. 

It was a listless game- a game of stops and starts. Then QPR conceded a goal and another goal. 

A young teacher/ youth leader who had rather sportingly brought some of her charges to the game -had to stop a young lad from celebrating. He had gotten the wrong idea about who had scored.

QPR did pull their socks up after the second goal and gave the Middleboro keeper hell, until halftime.

Yet no one could finish. I have since learned that Chair went injured

A goal back promised much, Middleborough scored a good third effort and then we conceded again

It was not a great night,

I would have taken a draw yesterday QPR were lively Yet at the end of the match  we had 11 men versus 10. Celar is still below ground when it comes to scoring. With Frey injured we will need a striker for Tuesday

The stewards did a very good job today - lots of people needing direction

Ding Dong!

I walked home for Loftus Road, with I think 10 pounds to last me the rest of the month. I felt like a Rockerfeller. I didn't want the evening to end. As I said early I only had 10 pounds left to my name I am a little annoyed today that I cannot discuss the match with anyone from work. I didn't want it to end 

The first thing I noticed was there was queue of maybe 100 people for the souvenir program. 

I took my seat under the WBA fans. Who did indeed throw bottles of water, and other bits and pieces at the pitch. It was a cool night. Just bearable in a jacket 

The Loft Banner looked amazing. They really had done our late great number 10 proud

With the spirit of Stanley looking down on us. QPR hit the lead early  The hoops were up and at them all night. A goal mouth scrabble finally drew first blood with Smith  scoring,

West Bromwich hit back and hit hard. QPR conceded two goals to WBA I think one from our old nemesis the corner spot.

 This was for once the beginning and not the end. QPR response was too attacked and attack

Finally we got a penalty

I cannot remember the last time QPR got a penalty. It took two goalkeepers to stop us from getting level

The referee will not be remembered fondly in W12

  In Glasgow on the last day of the year. Celtic won 2-1. A very dramatic game

I watched the latest episode of Dr Who. The Church on Ruby Road , I was a touch unimpressed. I may do a rewatch

My brother and I watched Limbo. Which should have been the last episode of Magnum P.I ( Selleck)

Magnum is killed in a warehouse having been ambushed. ( The ambush may be something of a recton)

Selleck wanted to quit Magnum, but good ratings in part due to Frank Sinatra guest starring and better writing made the Network write Selleck a cheque. It is a pity because this episode is a bittersweet classic. From the cold opening with TS fighting for his life and sweating hard in the back streets of honolou  With Thomas following Jordan Peterson's advice and tidying his room  it reminds one of Quantum leap. TS talks Michelle through a car chase.  I have put off watching it. 

I really enjoyed it.
