Round up 18-8-14

My stomach is awful. To add insult to injury. The water was turned off for about an hour at work.
Yesterday I had a terrible headache. The change in pressure apparently. I am worried I have another ear infection. Also my left foot is murdering me. I hurt it trekking up Javier prado last Tuesday

I had to go and pick up my Interpol report. I had to have a dental exam.

In other news My degree from the University of Glasgow, is confusing the locals. Its in Latin, which confuses the locals. Who mistook Latin for German. They are also upset it has a watermark rather then a stamp

Queens Park Rangers lost their opening  match of the season, on Saturday against Hull City. So well done Barry Jones. I worry QPR will play well every match and lose 1-0

My Baba is happy and healthy though

This time last week, my life as a QPR fan in Lima

I would have been scanning the internet, for the QPR result. Living in Peru. I may be the only QPR fan for miles, for days even. Though last week, and the week before. I had to remind myself too.

I have attended Queens park rangers games for the last decade. I would walk down the uxbridge road, to Loftus road to crown my monthly saturday off work, or sometimes dash from White city station after work on Wednesdays. Eager to watch the hoops play under the lights. I was there when we were in the Championship, there when were in the third flight. The last game, I watched at the Loft, was QPR v Aston Villa. ( According to rumor David Cameron was in attendance) I left for South America.I may never be able to see QPR play live again...I was delighted when I was able to see some of the games, on ESPN.

I was worried but not too worried about the team.  I had faith in Mark Hughes. I did not expect great things. I expected to lose.

It was not just that we lost. We capitulated

We capitulated being millions no, tens of millions in Debt.

We are not the size of Chelsea. I see Chelsea shirts in Lima every day. Uggh. We may not even be as big as Fullham. Even if we play the best football QPR have ever played. QPR had to consider its size and strength.
We were lucky to win the championship in 2010. QPR took their sweet time about it. We relied too much on Kenny and Taabart. We stayed up, by scrapping.

What I worry is not that QPR have had a bad season, is that the seedcorn will be spent.

Raising the profile of the brand is all very well. Buying a club in India is grand. QPR survives by being a club that plays good football, with a good vibe. We survive by being the hammers, with more class and fun.

We were Blackburn, without the brains. Blackburn without the silverwear

Life in Lima

We went to see  one of my wives friends yesterday. She was here on st Stevens day, with her daughter. Nice little girl. She was playing with Patrick. My puppy. Which has since passed
Anyway, the little girl, was walking about one of the markets in Lima. She found a small scissors, and picked it up.
She was swinging it about in a plastic bag, and it flew out and caught her in the eye.
The scissors s landed somewhat cleanly, so it did not look so bad at first.
Anyway, the girl may lose her eye. She is three or four years old. She had to two have operations on her eye. So, she had to be awake. She may still lose the eye anyway.
The mother, who had hair salon in Brazil. Had to sell the salon for a knockdown price to get cash. Oh, and the girls estranged father has vanished.

It makes you think how lucky we are in the first world
