Robert Chew

Robert F Chew

``Proposition Joe''

1960-2013

Actor, Mentor, Teacher

One of my favorite characters in the Wire. An interesting character, in another world, a Bishop or a Tory. See his last speech to Cheese, when he talks about his grandfather the first coloured man to buy his home in Baltimore. Or when he fixes a toaster, puts it in his shop window, and prices it.  On the streets of Baltimore a murderer and drug dealer.

Strange thought

Strange thought

I was reading the Journal.ie

http://www.thejournal.ie/in-pictures-dominic-west-at-trinity-college-dublin-285933-Nov2011/
Dominic West is an old Etonian

David Cameron is an old Etonian too

The too are three years apart 1966-1969.

So there is a strange universe. Where Dominic West, is PM, of GB and David Cameron, is doing DVD commentaries

The last episode of ``the Wire’’

I just watched the final episode of the wire.
I apologise for the profanity but…
What the fuck, am I going to do now work for a living?
That’s it. No more Bunk and McNulty. No more Omar, saying ``Indeed’’. No more watching bandy legged Fremon walk. No more Proposition Joe. No more Jay Landsman. No more B-more Morder po-ice. No more Cavanaugh's bar. No more Greggs, no more Carver.
Baltimore is thousands of miles away. I know of it. I knew a few girls who lived there in UNC. Valya has been there. The Wire, made it seem familiar. The crickets, and the weather reminded me of NC.

It was a little piece of my life. I was able to step out if my life, and into another world.  Now it’s over

May I begin ….The Wire Season 2,

I am actually very pleased with the title.
I am watching the wire. The second season. My sister very kindly lent me the DVD The series, has changed location from the ghetto, to the Port of Baltimore docks The vice in question, is no longer drugs. Though like the poor, still remain with us. However this time, it is women. A container load of prostitutes, are killed in transit. This brings the attention of the authorities onto the local Union.
From the Underclass to the working class. We also see, how people fall into crime. The old tune still plays true. That the road to hell, is paved with good intentions.

The port of Baltimore. Once it had lorries backed up for three miles. Now it struggles to employ 100 people. What do you do, when you work five days a month?
The male alternative to having a career is prison. ( i don’t think I will quote Tim Allen again here) One of the leads, was pushing around a book barrow, whilst loading shelves. I was amused.
I did manage to find, my duvet cover. I was thinking of buying some new shelves. My stomach aches a bit. I wish you all well

My daughter, and the flamenco    This is an albino tiger, which is very rare- if it was not specifically bred by a collector
