This film is like is someone got up early, drove to a mountain stream and angled to catch a beautiful fish. They brought to an resturaunt and left it in the hands of a master chef. Who then cooked it to perfecton
Garnished it like a summer garden
I loved the purple waistcoats, and the pink walls. I adored the scenary. I have no complaints about the actors. The cast is supberb. Saoirse Ronan, Bill Murray, Jude Law, Ralph Fiennes,
I did wonder if Death in Venice was an influence here- the rich purples
I just don't know if I enjoyed it. I am glad I have seen it, I can cross it off. It is like a fish meal. No matter the skill and time employed. Fish is not something I enjoy
The film has both high faluting and realistic dialogue. The scene was one of the atagonists is killed and Fiennes cheers in relief. Is one of the most lifelike scenes in cinema
Alas of course the shadow of war hovers over the bloodlands. In retrospect we see the world change from Widows, and Spas to shortages and refugees and finally to SS and Comissars.
As I said fish is a great meal, it is good for you. I just don't relish fish.
