Virginia Beach blues

Our hotel in Virginia beach nightmare. We had booked the first hotel online. There were some poor reviews. However I hoped for the best, taking comfort in the dating of the reviews.
Like my room, I was in the dark about it
The hotel staff, were very kind, and left us at least some working light bulbs. Which we could install in the rooms we were paying for.
This is a picture of the lamps in our rooms. Which did not have light bulbs in them. I had to ask for them to send up some light bulbs.
Our first hotel on 11th ave Virginia beach
When we arrived at Virginia beach. A fortnight yesterday. We were distinctly underwhelmed by our hotel. The red bull vending machine which seemed to be dragged in front of the lobby.
The hotel lobby was being renonvated. Which was what they kept telling us. The lobby had been gutted. The fuse boxes were exposed. Ready to have the fuses reinstalled. The lobby was only staffed by a woman approaching middle age. Who kept chanting ``We are renovating'' as if that excused everything
Our rooms were located on the 8th floor. The highest floor of the hotel. We made our way into the rooms. Past a hallway full of beds, TV's and chests of drawers that had been ripped out of the rooms that were going to be redone. Some rooms had their doors open. Ie the room between me and my brother. The empty rooms were being used by the work crews as break rooms
A family left the hotel before us. They checked out after being given rooms that had no doors on them.
The hotel bar/cafe was closed for the season
The surfaces in the rooms, were covered in builders dust. The table tops, were tacky with grease. The alarm clocks in the rooms, were set to a strange time. The hair dryers in the bathroom were broken. The hotel room bible covered with masonry dust
We called our sister, and she got in touch with our travel agents . I have stayed in hotel rooms, across the US, and Europe. This was the worst hotel I have stayed in. Save a ``hotel'' in the rue de' St Catherine in Quebec
According to my brother, someone was kicking at his door, as he slept
