The Boys

This may have been my favorite piece of TV all year.

It is set in a world Where Superheroes are real. What is it like?

It has one of the best comedy set pieces of all time. I must refute Steven pinker on this. Steven Pinker claimed that`` A fish called Wanda ''is no longer funny as it features the death of a dog as a comedic set piece Here they kill a dolphin and it is hysterical

It is a black super hero comedy. It wad clearly written during the Bush era so there are digs at the religious right which seem passe now. Woke capital would never let their human assets be associated with red state religiosity now

Firstly Kyle Urban is brilliant as Billy Butcher. His accent is a bit confusing, He is an Australian supposed to be playing an East-ender but you can live with that.

The first meeting between Billy and our hero- Hughie Campbell . Is great.11 I don't want to go to a second location with you''.

What I like about the Boys is that, everyone one has an agenda and no one is quite what they seem. It never spells it out. But it is clear that Hughie Campbell is being manipulated by both the Seven and by Butcher. Indeed there is a painful scene where Campbell claims falsely that he had sex with someone. He figuratively prostitutes himself

There is a very painful scene. One that is truly difficult to watch when the Homelander and Queen Medb try and fail to rescue a hijacked plane. It would have been too much in the early noughts

I cannot wait for the second season
