You notice Peter Lorre making eye contact and following events in the final confrontation between him and Bogart, and the fat man. They did not use a stand in. 

Shipping news in the SF papers. Singapore would be about to fall soon in the real world. The fat man and Lorre are trying to steal from a White Russian General 

Peter Lorre has a blue British passport amongst others

Bogart offers the police lieutenant and the other cop a drop of whiskey/gin when they come to see him and they accept. He also smokes roll ups. Does Bogart make a gay slur when being harrased by the police

Are Bogart and his secretary having a relationship -They are very physically close. 

This was talkier than Casablanca. Certainly more morally grey. Interesting. I don't think I will rewatch it
