The Rocketeer

 

Yes I can see why this one failed. I should like it- Its a fun pulpy ride. 

Jennifer Connelly is radiant.

 I am jealous of W.C Fields- I wish I had that part! But something is just off? Is it the leading man?

I had to look Billy Campbell up Who plays the lead- and I think that may be it. He has made  a lot of TV and even some films, but nothing I remember. I note that people remember what happens in this film rather than who is doing it.

As a period piece the Rocketeer holds up the 1930s to a beautiful chrome mirror. Tommy Guns. All the cars are polished and shining , even the burger looks good in the diner Oh  and tomato soup looks delicious. It holds up very well in cinematography and SFX

Timothy Dalton is having a lot of fun- This really must have been great to play. So is Paul Sovirino 

Alas I think Mr Campbell is letting us down
