Went the Day well?

 

There is something of Daphne from Frasier, about Thora Hird. It is very well cast- the actual range of the accents on screen- West Country, Manchester make it more unsettling

Just before I watched this - I watched a video about the treatment of British POW's after Dunkirk. So the petty cruelty of the Germans is more true. 

I wonder if Tarratino had this film in mind- when he had the famous three fingers scene in Inglorius Bastards- The 7 and the 5's being written in continental style

Mrs Collins killing of the German soldier is well done. Desperate and bloody. The boy being shot-but stumbling on was well done. The film builds and releases tension well
