I have been rewatching the series 

It makes me feel old ,the appreciation of the fact the series is almost 10 years old. I was at least thirty when I first saw this series. So twice the age of the leads. I remember those empty desperate days. Trying anything to do something cool

Kudos to the producers for playing with the formula. They subvert the narrative by starting the credits as if this was a horror. We learn that Will, the series narrator is at University and very much unloved. Will and Simon have been tricked into attending a party in fancy dress.

The inbetweeners though on the face of it , a British small screen answer to the teen gross out comedies -porkies-American pie-et al. Differs from its American cousins, the Inbeeners is firmly about class

Will is told to piss off by the public school set, at his university. 

 Wills love rival bears a double barrelled name. -Actually common in the lowest orders of the Spanish speaking world. Oh and decidedly  unaristocratic as the oldest and noblest English surnames are simply Norman -Percy -Beaumont

Will is friendless at University Simon has traded indifference from Carly to domination from his new gf. Neill is getting on rather well at the bank.

We get news from Jay. Who has been living down under his email.(Probably now a WhatsApp message or fb post Rather then writing an email, on a phone)

This settles it for our heroes who issued with a rape alarm which sets up a brick joke Set off for the land down under

Jay is discovered. As a toilet monkey not a terror to the virtue of NSW Australia
The series skips the Aussie sex trade. Jay has changed his sky but not his fate. He is being bullied and browbeat by an Antipodean Uncle.

The Will meets a lost love doing the hippy thing -gap yahhh

Jay wants to find his voluptuous redhead whom he split with sometimes between films.

Will in one scene berating a new age traveller echo's his father Tony Head in the inbetweeners movie. When Tony asks Will, if he will be taking the trans Siberian railway-Bolivia is not in central America.

Will falls for a lost love only to find out that she is in an off and on again relationship with Thornton Wilder. 

The boys can all see through each others problems but none can guide or persuade the others into making a fool of themselves. Here Will copies Simon mistake as he obsesses over a girl who was not interested in him really. Simon spends his time trapped in relationship.  Jay moons and pines over a lost love, and Neil is happy being Neil
