The Orville

I enjoyed it. It McFarlane's homage rip off the 90s Trek.

There is a Yesterday's Enterprise nod. The Best of Both Worlds and Reunification  Also a long homage to the Terminator

It is nice to see planet of the hats episodes again. After long drawn out story arcs-A particular favorite of mine is when the Union visits a planet where astrology is a matter of life or death. People were giving birth early via caesarian to dodge being born under the bad sign

Hey Ted Danson makes Admiral.

It is amazing how cheap and effective CGI is. You can now see Alien worlds on mid budget shows.

It is nice to see Norm Macdonald. While we still can.

The Avis joke is well done. The God of the Krill is caused Avis. Also nice touch making the Krill very vulnerable to UV light

It is nice to see, a lot of old friends. Picardo, Russ, Sirtes, and Billingsley  We also have Penny Jerad as a regular.  Poor Bruce Boxleitner is type cast as President of the Galaxy again but has to wear CGI

There was an interesting episode which alluded to vaccine question. There is a porn addiction episode-which Wesley Crusher did not get to do.

The cast is gorgeous. Well, the ladies are- I note that the Orville's laForge is a lady's man. Something that I always found odd about Geordi was the basically wrote him as a celibate. Also the Orville does the Leah Brahms story in a more modern and better way.

I wonder if Seth McFarlane is wearing a wig. I know I know.

There is a lot of drinking in this show. I note what Ronald Moore said about his own show- BSG is also true about the Orville. I don't know if this a SF trope- The Orville follows Naval practice.

I felt sorry for Bortus's husband. Who is forced to live on a ship with people his culture dislikes. We are supposed to dislike him. I cannot accept feeling some sympathy for a person who their spouse's boss come into their house and tell them what to do.

I dislike the Universe shrinking in which the Krill Chancellor is the mother of Mercers child

I forgot to mention - The plot is the Orville are sent into an unknown region of Krill space This episode is an excellent body horror story

I enjoyed the series.
